    Version 1.2.0

Sometime within this week, the next build will be released. The personnel file link has disappeared as now you can click on the rank image to view their personnel file. This aligns with IPB's general forum styling.

    Version 1.2.0

When is the next build expected? Just curious on the time frame. Also, what happened to the "Personnel File" button on people's posts on forums with the forum extension? That disappeared when I upgraded to the new version of everything.

    How are PARs handled?

Correct, they all appear in the system in one spot. The only permissions that can be set are who can submit them. Optionally, I can add a permission for who can manage them as well. But for the time being, creating the ability for PARs to go to certain places, squad leaders etc, is a little specific. Until a organizational chart can be built into the back end to help manage chain of command, it’ll be hard to implement that correctly. But I will add the option to choose who can manage them.

    Activity Tracker

All great suggestions, will be implemented next release! The status changed back when reported in is not a feature but can be easily implemented. I like the idea of ignoring certain groups for the activity tracker, great idea!

    Activity Tracker

If PERSCOM is set to create a forum topic when applications are submitted, would be nice to have a reply to that topic automatically submitted when the Application Status is changed, posted by the user that updated the status. When a soldier's reportIn date is greater than set frequency, the status is changed as intended. However when the soldier then reports in, the status is not changed back to it's previous state. Not sure if this is a bug or just not a design consideration. Option to add service record entry when the status is changed due to missing the report In frequency. And/or if set to assign to specific combat unit, file assignment entry added as well (not sure if it does this already, haven't tested.) Additionally, would be a good idea to enable certain status or group to ignore activity tracking. For us, Retired or LOA won't need to reportIn every x days, so no need to change their status.

    Trouble updating Perscom to 1.1.0

Had you already tried running the upgrade once and then tried again? 1.1.0 introduced the new database fields and it appears they were already in your DB when you tried to run the upgrade. When you upgrade, only the files in the upgrade folder of setup are run. The data/schema.json is only for fresh installs. I'll make sure to add a check in future upgrades when adding DB tables incase they already exist! Thanks and I am glad you were able to work around it!

    Trouble updating Perscom to 1.1.0

I hacked up a workaround by deleting setup/upg_10002/upgrade.php from both the archive and from the site's docroot, repacking the TAR, and uploading the new version. The upgrade completed successfully after that. I think maybe the upgrade.php file was creating the new tables, then the data/schema.json tried to create them again (or the other way around). I'm not familiar with IPB plugin/app development.
  11. When I go to update Perscom from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0 by uploading the new TAR through the AdminCP, it complains about "Table 'perscom_personnel_fields' already exists", see attached screenshot. When I check my database, I see that the table is empty. I try to drop it and upload the new version again, but it just creates the table and shows the same error.

    Soldier Supervisor Selection

Option to assign applied NCOIC/OIC to a specific group as well? So I might have a group just for all the NCOIC/OIC personnel that can access a specific forum.

    Primary Group Management

Workflow was a bad word to use, my mistake. We have very granular permissions, so when someone gets in, they need a few groups - not just one. This means that once they get in, it would be optimal if those multiple groups were assigned. Hope that is easier to understand, my mistake for using the word workflow in the first place.

Option to use a single name

Thank you. Not being forced to use 2 different names will make our lives a lot easier.

    Primary Group Management

Can you provide an example workflow so we have better understanding? Thanks

    Primary Group Management

I was thinking more of having a one-to-many relationship rather than one-to-one for assigning secondary groups, but not sure how feasible that would be.

Option to use a single name

Great recommendation! And easy to implement as well! It has been integrated for the next release!

    Soldier Supervisor Selection

I like the set OIC/NCOIC idea. I currently like how the New Assignment Record function pre-populates the From Combat Unit, but is still optional to choose something else. I think that would be a nice way to handle this.

    How are PARs handled?

As the title says, I had a question about how Personnel Action Requests are handled. Are they just lumped into the system where a defined group receives all of them? If so, my suggestion would be to add an option where a PAR is only seen by relevant personnel, such as PARs for squad members going to their squad leader, etc. But of course allowing for flexibility, since some of my PARs will require a level of approval far above someone's immediate first-line supervisor. I feel like providing a description of how most of PERSCOM's functions actually work would be helpful. Most of us are just figuring this out as we go. I feel like we may not even understand the true scope and power of PERSCOM 2.0, so a little guidance would be helpful. Basically, what can it actually do? Type of thing.
  21. So one question I had was my clan, unlike Milsim clans, does not use someone's real, or real-like (False, but real sounding) names as identification, recruitment, etc. We use typical screen names, like most gamers do online. Is there a way to accomodate this in the PERSCOM system? I'm asking if it's possible to have a first and last name be optional, but still require at least one name. Also, allowing us to change the singular field to "Username" or something to that effect if this can be entertained. Currently, I am substituting the first name for the clan tag, and the last name for the username, but I would like to see an implementation where this is not required.

    Soldier Supervisor Selection

    Yes. Flexibility is key. 🙂

    Soldier Supervisor Selection

Similar to administrative units, how about assigning a NCOIC/OIC to that unit and then when you are assigned to that unit, your supervisor is automatically changed? I would of course also create a setting to switch between auto set supervisors and manually set supervisors.
  24. Jon Erickson

    Primary Group Management

I'm working on developing a set of definable "actions" that can be applied to a PERSCOM process. So for example....you could set up your own custom action to 1. move a group, 2. change a status, and 3. add a service record entry and then after each PERSCOM process (promotion, demotion, award, assignment, etc), you can choose what happens by selecting one of your defined actions. I think this will help increase the flexibility and customizability of the system! So stay tuned!

Change Status on New Assignment Record

I second this notion. Would remove a small amount of admin work when processing discharges, retirements, or placing a soldier on inactive status, or having someone return to active from any of the aforementioned statuses.
  26. Devilsigh

    Soldier Supervisor Selection

I would even suggest having a way to tie it to a group. Like if you're assigned to, for example: 1st Squad, 1st Platoon, Alpha Company, it would default to that Squad Leader. Is this possible? Or would that require the code to be changed to accommodate each unit having an appointed leader in the system? Or is there a way to build this feature in?
  27. Arthur Cantu

    Primary Group Management

Not sure how your workflow is designed specifically, but enlistment application processing, File Assignments, editing Administrative Duty Assignments, and discharges all manage secondary groups automatically.
